Meet Robert Emond
I am currently a Recovery Coach, which I achieved through The Addictions Academy. This has provided me with training to support people with substance use disorders and other addictions and the family and friends of the substance abuser. I am continuously acquiring new certifications. You can see the full listing of the coaching practices we are certified in here.
I am also working at becoming a Certified Addictions Counsellor through the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF). This is an intense area of study requiring 4,000 hours of working in an addictions and/or mental health related field. I’ve also recently worked part-time as a member care specialist at Aurora Recovery Centre in Gimli, Manitoba, to support my own recovery and gain experience toward the CACCF Addictions Counsellor designation. Working at Aurora was incredibly rewarding. I absolutely loved working there and felt most inspired after working my two weekend shifts. It’s actually how I relaxed and got away from it all.
My time at the Top of the World Ranch Treatment Centre and my personal success in recovery opened me to the possibility of doing this for others who, like me, struggled with substance use disorder or other forms of addiction.
I felt it was absolutely necessary to make a commitment that would hold me accountable while helping the clients I coach become responsible for their lives as well. I’ve always said, I can’t give what I don’t have. What I now have is a lifelong commitment to remain balanced and healthy in all aspects of life and want to help others find their own way to a successful life in recovery.
I’m taking an innovative approach by continuously expanding my skills and certifications while staying on top of the latest research and anything that can help anyone else experiencing addiction. I am a student of Gabor Maté’s Compassionate Inquiry program, which is a psychotherapeutic method that reveals what lies beneath the appearance we present to the world. This resonates with me as my addiction story is deeply embedded in trauma and a mental illness that had never been properly diagnosed.
Dr. Maté’s open and unprejudiced approach on addictions changed my recovery and my life. I am thrilled to have the opportunity pay this forward to my clients.
“What I like about White Wolf is Robert’s own true experience in addiction and recovery and his willingness and courage in sharing his story publicly. The other thing I like is if Robert can’t honestly help you, he will not take you on as a client but will direct you to someone who can help and will guide you and your family every step of the way to the required resources. He’s eager, on time and is very passionate about what he does.”Anonymous —
